Vision and Purpose
Vanguard’s Humanities Department is a cornerstone of the school,
combining English and History into a meaningful curriculum.
Humanities’ broad scope and sequence covers topics from identity to
globalization, and the environment to race and religion.
The 4-year sequence of courses culminates in a rigorous portfolio
process that students must present to graduate. Along the way,
students participate in debates, roundtables, and write essays and
stories to gain appreciation and mastery in the Humanities.
